Sacred ceremony on top of Ngu Nhac mountain

On the top of Ngu Nhac Mountain, the sacred ceremony of worshipping heaven and earth takes place and has become a unique feature of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival for many years.

On February 14 (January 17), the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival held a ceremony to worship heaven and earth on Ngu Nhac Mountain, praying for national peace and prosperity.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee; Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, and Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, branches, localities, and a large number of people and tourists from all over the country.

Leading the procession is a team of lions, octopuses, gongs and drums, followed by delegates, people and tourists from all over.

The delegation gathered at the foot of Ngu Nhac Mountain to go to the temples to perform the ceremony. Bac Nhac Temple was the first place the delegation went to perform the ceremony, followed by Trung Nhac, Tay Nhac, Dong Nhac, and Nam Nhac temples.

The highlight is the ceremony to worship heaven and earth at Trung Nhac temple. Here, the ceremony takes place according to traditional rituals. After representatives of leaders at all levels offer incense, representatives of the Buddhist Sangha of Hai Duong province conduct the ceremony to worship the five directions and announce the petition.

Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang and Provincial People's Committee Chairman Le Ngoc Chau performed the ceremony of distributing cereals to 12 districts, towns, cities, departments, branches, people and tourists.

Cereals include 5 types of food: rice represents the earth element; corn represents the metal element; sesame represents the water element; beans represent the fire element; peanuts represent the wood element. These are 5 quintessential foods of heaven and earth, nourishing humans and all living things.

In the ceremony of worshipping heaven and earth on Ngu Nhac mountain, cereals are sacred offerings to Buddha, saints, heaven, earth, ancestors, etc. to express gratitude and pray for national peace and prosperity, and good crops. Cereals are distributed to people and visitors to breed with the wish that all things will grow and flourish, that crops will be bountiful, and that all people will be well-fed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung (Quang Ninh) excitedly said: "Receiving cereals is like receiving a blessing from heaven, being immersed in a sacred atmosphere, increasing vitality and believing in a good new year."

According to Dr. Le Duy Manh, Deputy Head of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Relic Management Board, the ceremony on Ngu Nhac Mountain has existed for a long time, with the meaning of praying for favorable weather, good crops, and national peace and prosperity. This is one of the important rituals that has been successfully restored for many years, and is a unique feature of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival. Every year, the ceremony attracts a large number of people and tourists from all over the world to attend.
