More than 600 athletes competed in the 5 and 10 km distances around Con Son Lake at the "Con Son - Kiep Bac - Journey of Connecting Cultural Heritage" Marathon.
More than 600 athletes competed enthusiastically in the 5 and 10 km distances.On the morning of February 14, at the Con Son relic site, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated to organize the Marathon "Con Son, Kiep Bac - Journey of connecting cultural heritage 2025"Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee; Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival 2025.In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized: Following the success of the first "Hai Duong Province Cultural Heritage Connection Journey" Cross-country race in 2024, the "Con Son, Kiep Bac - Cultural Heritage Connection Journey 2025" Marathon is organized on a larger scale, with higher professional quality, attracting a record number of nearly 2,000 professional and amateur athletes from all over the country.Immediately after the opening ceremony, more than 600 athletes entered the competition in two distances of 5 km and 10 km.The race is the highlight of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival in 2025, contributing to promoting the image of the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site in the process of building a dossier on the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic complex of the three provinces of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage site.Athletes Pham Dinh Hung and Nguyen Thi Hong Anh from Hai Ba Trung District (Hanoi) came to Con Son to participate in the 10km distance of the race. "Although the distance is far, my wife and I still registered for this race together. Coming here, we not only run to improve our health but also visit and learn about the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic, which is very meaningful," Hung shared.Athlete Tran Van Duc (born in 1954) in Kinh Mon town regrets that the 5km distance is not held on the weekend, so some of his friends did not participate. For older people like Mr. Duc, this is a playground that not only helps to improve health but also trains a strong will to conquer each challenge.Water stations are arranged by the organizers along the running route. The 5km and 10km distances have the same running route around Con Son Lake area under the beautiful natural scenery of Chi Linh City.Athlete Luong Duc Phuoc of Dong Nai finished the 10 km race. In his second season participating in the race, Phuoc was very happy when he finished first in the 10 km race with a time of just over 32 minutes.Athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh from Hai Duong, who participated in the tournament for the first time, excellently finished the 10km distance in just 37 minutes. Ms. Ngoc Anh shared: "Although I am an athlete with a long history of achievements, when participating in the tournament, I still found it quite difficult because there were many people who were very strong and physically fit. However, I think I was lucky to come first as the host."The 2 races this morning also saw the participation of special athletes such as athlete Nguyen Thi Viet Dung from Uong Bi City (Quang Ninh), who at 85 years old still participated in the race, making everyone admire her.
