On February 26, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh submitted his resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas. This announcement was made in the context of the Hamas-Israel conflict in the Gaza Strip remaining tense.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shtayyeh stressed that his resignation was to create a broad consensus within Palestine on political agreements.
The move comes as the international community steps up efforts to defuse the conflict in Gaza and begins to focus on a political structure to govern the enclave post-conflict.
