Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosts a ceremony to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on an official visit to Australia.

According to VNA special correspondent, on the morning of March 7, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his fiancee hosted a welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, who are on an official visit to Australia from March 7-9.

The welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at the Parliament House located on Capital Hill in Canberra, Australia, according to special protocol for the head of government on an official visit to Australia; witnessed by the people of Canberra and tourists visiting the Australian Parliament House.

As the motorcade carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife approached from the side of Capital Hill and stopped in front of the lobby of the Parliament House, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his fiancee were waiting to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife.

The two Prime Ministers shook hands and hugged warmly, at the same time 19 cannon shots under the control of Australian Army artillery batteries resounded on Capital Hill and the Vietnamese national flag was raised to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to step up to the podium. After the welcome command from the Captain of the Australian Military Honour Guard, the Vietnamese National Anthem was played by a large brass band from the Australian Military Band.

The Captain of the Australian Military Honour Guard respectfully invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to inspect the Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the Australian Prime Minister and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh introduced to each other the officials from both sides attending the welcoming ceremony. The welcoming ceremony ended with the Military Band playing the Vietnamese and Australian National Anthems.

After the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife signed the guest book and exchanged gifts with the Australian Prime Minister and his fiancee. Following that, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Australian Prime Minister held talks.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Australia this time takes place in the context that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has made great strides and achieved comprehensive results.

The level of political trust between the two sides has increased, considered to be the highest ever. The two sides regularly exchange high-level delegations, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two sides cooperate well in the fields of security and defense. Bilateral trade turnover in 2023 will reach 13.8 billion USD. Currently, Australia is Vietnam's 7th largest trading partner and Vietnam is Australia's 10th largest partner.

Australia currently has more than 600 investment projects with a total investment capital of more than 2 billion USD, ranking 20th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Vietnam has 92 investment projects in Australia with a total investment capital of 552.7 million USD, ranking 11th out of 80 countries and territories investing in Australia.

Australia is one of the largest bilateral partners providing non-refundable ODA to Vietnam; providing many scholarships under long-term and short-term programs for Vietnam. Tourism, labor and cooperation between localities of the two countries are developing well. In particular, with about 350,000 people, the Vietnamese community in Australia is making an important contribution to the relationship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Australia is an opportunity for the two countries to evaluate the developments in bilateral relations in recent times, especially in implementing the Strategic Partnership between the two sides, as well as the high-level agreements that the two sides have reached in recent times.

At the same time, the two sides will orient cooperation in the coming time, emphasizing the goals of trade cooperation, promoting investment from Australia to Vietnam and from Vietnam to Australia.

In particular, the highlight of this visit will be the goal of expanding cooperation in education and training, including vocational training; expanding cooperation in science and technology, innovation, taking advantage of new current driving forces, especially in digital economy, green economy and energy transition, and developing renewable energy in Vietnam.

According to the program, after the talks, the Australian Prime Minister and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will witness the handover ceremony of cooperation documents; and at the same time, meet the press to announce the results of the talks, including the announcement of the establishment of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
