On the afternoon of March 5 (local time), in Melbourne, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his fiancee hosted a welcoming ceremony for the Heads of Delegations attending the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife Le Thi Bich Tran; the King of Brunei; the Presidents and their spouses of the Philippines and Indonesia; the Prime Ministers and their spouses of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste; and the ASEAN Secretary General attended the welcoming ceremony.
Welcoming the Heads of Delegation to the Conference with traditional Australian cultural and artistic performances, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highly appreciated Australia's relations with ASEAN countries and hoped that after this conference, the Australia - ASEAN relationship will be promoted and strengthened with new momentum and content.
After 50 years, ASEAN-Australia relations have developed very well. Political trust between the two sides has increased. Cooperation between the two sides is in all fields, including trade, economy, culture-society... Australia is one of the Comprehensive Strategic Partners with many practical and effective cooperation with ASEAN members.
The Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations was held from March 5-6 in Melbourne, Australia with the theme “Partnership for the Future”.
Within the framework of the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend key meetings and have a number of other important foreign affairs activities. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN countries and Australia will discuss and propose visions, directions and specific measures to expand cooperation in the coming time.
In particular, it is expected that the Australian side will discuss and propose new cooperation initiatives; if both sides agree, there will be breakthroughs in bilateral relations, contributing to creating more resources and foundations for ASEAN-Australia relations to develop more strongly in the coming time.
