The source said Prime Minister Sunak had asked Ms Braverman to leave the government and she had accepted.

The Sun's political editor said Foreign Secretary James Cleverly would replace Ms Braverman.

Last week, Ms Braverman published an article criticising police for “double standards” in dealing with protests. The opposition Labour Party said her comments had heightened tensions at a pro-Palestinian march in London on 4 November.

During the protest, more than 140 people were arrested after far-right protesters clashed with police trying to prevent them from clashing with 300,000 pro-Palestinian marchers.

The source also said that Prime Minister Sunak is expected to make some changes in the cabinet, thereby removing some ministers that the Prime Minister's Office believes are not fully performing their duties.
