Nguyen Thanh Luong, 32 years old, said he was bored because his girlfriend broke up with him to get married and stabbed her to death.

On September 29, Luong was sentenced to death by the People's Court of Kien Giang province for murder..
The verdict determined that Luong had been in a relationship with a 32-year-old woman in Chau Thanh district since 2021. In September 2022, his lover asked to break up so she could get married. On the evening of September 26, 2022, Luong brought two knives to her nail salon in Rach Gia city, begging to rekindle their relationship but was unsuccessful.
Authorities allege that in the locked room, he stabbed the victim dozens of times despite her pleas. When his lover collapsed in a pool of blood, Luong slit his throat and attempted suicide, but was discovered by people nearby and taken to the emergency room.
During the investigation and at trial, Luong confessed that he "loved the victim too much and was bored after being broken up with" so he committed the crime.
The jury determined that the defendant's criminal behavior was especially dangerous to society, of a hooligan nature... requiring permanent isolation from social life.
