At midnight, Nguyen Thanh Tan in Long Xuyen City (An Giang) used a flammable object to set fire to his neighbor's house and then fled the area.
On the evening of March 29, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police is temporarily detaining Nguyen Thanh Tan (36 years old, residing in My Phuoc Ward, Long Xuyen City) to investigate the act of property destruction.
Initial information, early the same morning, Ms. Nguyen TD (living in the same neighborhood) was sleeping when she was startled by a loud noise from the house next door.
Opening the camera to check, Ms. D. discovered that Nguyen Thanh Tan was holding a flammable object and throwing it at the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Luc (64 years old, Tan's neighbor). Tan then left immediately.
In just a few minutes, the fire flared up fiercely, engulfing Mr. Luc's entire house. Hearing Mrs. D's screams, the people nearby immediately helped put out the fire.
Upon receiving the news, My Phuoc Ward Police, along with militia and fire police, quickly arrived at the scene. However, because Mr. Luc’s house was located in a small alley, had a wooden structure and contained many flammable materials, the fire spread, completely burning down the house and damaging two neighboring houses.
My Phuoc Ward police took witness statements and extracted security camera footage to identify the suspect. When checking Tan’s residence, authorities discovered that he had fled.
Using professional measures, the police quickly isolated and discovered Tan hiding in My Xuyen ward, so they surrounded and arrested him and brought him to the headquarters for questioning.
At the investigation agency, Nguyen Thanh Tan admitted to setting fire to his neighbor's house. It is known that Tan is a drug addict.
The case is currently being investigated and handled by An Giang Provincial Police according to regulations.
