After more than 200 days of planting, N8 turmeric is assessed to grow and develop according to the set schedule.

The Project Management Board "Building a model for commercial production of N8 turmeric variety associated with linking product consumption in Hai Duong" of the Plant Resources Center (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) has built 4 models of growing N8 turmeric in Hoang Hoa Tham commune (Chi Linh city, Hai Duong).

After more than 200 days of planting, the results showed that the 4th model achieved the highest efficiency in terms of monitoring indicators such as the number of leaves/plant reaching nearly 12%; the time to germinate to 50% took only 36 days, 2-9 days lower than the remaining models, the rate of germinating tubers reached 100%; the plant was exceptionally tall at over 170 cm...

With such growth and development, the productivity and quality of turmeric in model 4 will be higher than other models. In this model, the Board of Directors plants 150g of tubers/clump, 30g-60g of tubers/clump higher than the other 3 models.

Compared to local turmeric varieties, N8 turmeric is easy to grow, easy to care for, grows well and is almost pest-free. It can be intercropped with dragon fruit or lychee to both keep the plant moist and increase economic efficiency.

That is the result of a field workshop organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Hai Duong in coordination with the Center for Plant Resources on the morning of November 8 in Hoang Hoa Tham commune.

This year, the Plant Resources Center experimentally planted 1 hectare of N8 turmeric in Hoang Hoa Tham commune with 10 participating households. In addition, there are 40 households that actively plant and do not participate in the model.

In the models that the Project Management Board has implemented in some places in the North and South, the growth period of N8 turmeric is from 280-300 days, depending on the soil quality, the yield is from 29-35 tons/ha, the Curcumin content and essential oil are all guaranteed in quality.
