Despite nearly 2 months of intensive treatment, the "miracle" did not come to the 8th grade male student who suffered a traumatic brain injury in Hanoi. The victim died at 12:35 today (May 21).
On the afternoon of May 21, Dr. Phan Huu Phuc, Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital, announced that patient NHĐ. (14 years old, an 8th grade male student who suffered a traumatic brain injury in Hanoi in March) had died.
"Male student D. died at 12:35 p.m. the same day. The diagnosis of death was due to multiple organ failure, septic shock, and severe traumatic brain injury," informed Dr. Phuc.
Previously, the National Children's Hospital organized a professional consultation council with experts in emergency resuscitation, neurosurgery, surgical resuscitation and related specialties from Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital, agreeing to diagnose patient D. with multiple organ failure, septic shock, and deep coma after severe traumatic brain injury.
On May 20, after nearly 2 months of treatment at Phu Tho General Hospital, an 8th grade male student who suffered a traumatic brain injury was transferred to Hanoi for treatment.
Previously, on March 19, Long Bien District Police (Hanoi) received a criminal complaint from Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (residing in Cam Khe District, Phu Tho Province) about her son, NHĐ., being beaten and injured while playing basketball at the octagonal court of Le Mat communal house on March 17.
During the verification and investigation process, the police determined that at around 3:00 p.m. on March 17, TVK (12 years old, residing in Long Bien district) was playing at Le Mat communal house when a conflict arose and he was slapped in the face by NHĐ.
TVK ran home to call his brother TVM (16 years old, living in Long Bien district, 10th grade student, Viet Hung Continuing Education Center) to help resolve the conflict.
According to the police, M. then came to meet and punched D., causing the victim to fall to the ground.
Child D. was then taken to Duc Giang General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred to Hospital 108 for treatment.
On March 26, D. was transferred by his family to Phu Tho General Hospital in very serious condition.
On March 27, the Investigation Police Agency of Long Bien District Police (Hanoi) issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain TVM to investigate the crime of intentionally causing injury.
This incident has led to a wave of strong concern in the community because D. is in a very pitiful situation.
