Many people think that preschool education is only suitable for women, so when a university announced a bonus for male candidates applying to this major, it caused controversy on social networks.

The University of Education (University of Danang) has just announced that it will reward 5 million VND to male students who register for preschool education to encourage male candidates to choose this major.

"Preschool education is only for girls, why recruit boys?"

Immediately after the University of Education (University of Danang) announced a policy of rewarding male students who choose preschool education, many people were surprised and then discussed it enthusiastically on social networks.

"I remember that preschool education is usually only for girls, so it doesn't recruit boys. Now it's probably too crowded and no one is applying, so they're giving bonuses to attract boys to study here," My Dung speculated.

Some others think that the teaching profession in general and especially preschool education "is hard work and low salary" so few people choose it now.

Some people even say that it is "certain" that men who study preschool education will have difficulty finding a job after graduation. "If I choose this major, the school will reward me with 5 million VND. Will I be hired after graduation?", a male student in Da Nang wondered.

While some other opinions said: "Preschool teachers are different from teachers at other levels, they have to feed, bathe, and change children's clothes. If your child is a girl, would you let a strange man bathe and change her clothes for you? I don't trust any man to look after my child all day. Where will male students who study preschool education find jobs after graduation?"

Job opportunities for male students majoring in preschool education are huge.

MSc. Nguyen Vinh San, Head of Student Affairs Department, member of the 2024 regular university admissions council of the University of Education (University of Danang), said that the school announced this bonus policy to encourage male candidates to study preschool education.

While the preschool education industry is in great need of teachers in managing and educating children, for many years there have been no male students studying this field.

There has only ever been one male student enrolled in preschool education at the school, and that was 20 years ago.

The only male student that day, after completing the course, chose to study for a master's degree and is now a lecturer in the school's preschool education department.

The reward policy is a recognition and encouragement for male students who boldly overcome career prejudices to choose the major they love.

"We believe that no candidate chooses a major because of the reward, but the reward is an encouragement for them when choosing a career, especially in careers that society is in great need of while not many people choose them," said Mr. San.

According to Mr. San, children in their early years need comprehensive education, and exposure to both female and male teachers. Meanwhile, male students have many advantages when studying preschool education.

"The subtlety, dexterity, and carefulness are not only found in women. Men still sing well, dance beautifully, and organize educational activities for children very well. When choosing preschool education, men often have a great advantage in career and personal development after graduation. If they really love their studies and have a love for children, the opportunities for preschool teachers will still be very open," Mr. San affirmed.

If passionate, male students should boldly pursue preschool education.

Many candidates wonder if male students can register to study preschool education? Are there any priorities? What are the job opportunities?

MSc. Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said: "Preschool education does not discriminate between men and women. If you feel capable, you can register for this major.

Currently, the preschool education department in the school still has male students, not just female students. Currently, this industry is in great need of teachers. Many boys are afraid of taking care of children. Sometimes we think that raising children is only for girls and not for boys. This is just a psychological factor.

It can be said that it is very good. If you are passionate about preschool education, I encourage boys to pursue this field. Not to mention that preschools have many different job positions"...
