Man Utd pay Sporting in exchange for coach Ruben Amorim

On October 29, Sporting confirmed that Man Utd had approached their coach, and said the English team agreed to pay a contract compensation of $10.81 million.

According to British newspaper Sport Mail, the parties involved continue to negotiate, with the main issue being when Amorim will start working at Man Utd.

The Old Trafford club want the Portuguese to take charge before the Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday (November 3), but there are a number of issues that cannot be resolved immediately.

Amorim rose to prominence in recent years with his success at Sporting, helping the club end a 19-year wait for a league title in 2021 and claim another title last season.

This season, Sporting are leading the Portuguese National Championship with a perfect record of 9 wins, scoring 30 goals and conceding only 2. Amorim's team is also unbeaten in the first three rounds of the Champions League, winning 2-0 against Lille, drawing 1-1 with PSV and beating Sturm Graz 2-0.

Sporting will host Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup on the evening of October 29. This will likely be Amorim's last match as Sporting coach.

Record (Portugal) said some members of the Man Utd board flew to Lisbon to watch this match and Amorim could come to England on Wednesday to sign a contract with the new club.

Previously, when asked about the rumor of joining Man Utd, Amorim said: "I am very proud to be the coach of Sporting. That is all I can say right now."

Amorim had planned to leave Sporting at the end of this season. Many newspapers said that the 39-year-old coach would go to Man City to succeed Pep Guardiola. However, after receiving an offer from Man Utd, he changed his mind and participated in two negotiations with the "Red Devils" representative.

The Man Utd coaching position is vacant after Ten Hag was sacked on October 28 due to poor results. The 13-time Premier League champions are currently 14th with 11 points after 10 rounds.

Assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy will be interim coach for the match against Leicester in the 1/8 round of the League Cup on October 30.
