The aromatic hybrid rice variety 6, tested by the Institute of Crop Research and Development (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture) in collaboration with farmers in some localities of Hai Duong in the spring crop, can yield nearly 7 tons/ha.
Hybrid fragrant rice 6 has a short growing period, from 90 to 130 days (depending on the season), suitable for the structure of seasonal rice varieties in the province. Compared to the control variety TBR 225, hybrid fragrant 6 has good tillering, good lodging resistance, leaf roller damage at a mild level, mild brown planthopper infection, mild to moderate sheath blight infection, and is not affected by the transmission of black-striped dwarf disease. The average yield of hybrid fragrant 6 is nearly 7 tons/ha, after deducting costs, reaching nearly 18 million VND/ha, nearly 7 million VND/ha higher than the control variety.
This spring crop, rice was planted in the communes of Quoc Tuan, Hop Tien (Nam Sach); Thong Nhat, Hong Hung (Gia Loc) and An Thanh (Tu Ky) with an area of 100 hectares, attracting 574 households to participate.
Hybrid fragrant rice 6 was selected and created by the Institute of Crop Research and Development since 2012.
