The inspection team of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development assessed rice productivity in Thang Long commune (Kinh Mon).

On May 30, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development conducted a preliminary assessment of the productivity of rice fields and rice varieties in Nam Sach district, Kinh Mon town and Chi Linh city.

According to the inspection team, although the winter-spring crop this year had many erratic weather changes and many pests and diseases, the professional agencies and local authorities promptly guided farmers to spray pesticides, so the rice grew and developed well. With farmers actively taking care of the rice, the rice tillered quickly, the plants were evenly tall, and the rice had few pests and diseases. The average rice yield in the whole province is estimated at over 67 quintals/ha, an increase of nearly 2 quintals/ha compared to the same period last year.

Rice yield in Chi Linh city reaches 6.1 tons/ha, the lowest in the province.

Some localities have high-yield rice areas such as Kim Thanh (70.5 tons/ha), Kinh Mon town (70 tons/ha), Cam Giang (69 tons/ha)...

Rice productivity in Chi Linh city is the lowest in the province, reaching only 6.1 tons/ha.

Professional agencies gave timely instructions to limit pests and diseases, so the average rice yield in the whole province was higher than last year.

In the 2024 winter-spring crop, the whole province planted 53,900 hectares of rice. To date, the whole province has harvested more than 3,000 hectares, reaching about 6%, equivalent to the same period last year. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requested districts, towns and cities to direct farmers to take advantage of the sunny weather to mobilize maximum harvesters and human resources to quickly harvest ripe rice areas according to the motto "green house is better than ripe field" to minimize damage caused by unfavorable weather at the end of the crop. Harvested rice areas need to quickly prepare the land and sow the summer-autumn crop as soon as possible to limit flooding in the early stages of the crop and create land to expand the winter-autumn crop planting area in 2024 - 2025.
