By mid-January, 50 provinces and cities had announced the Tet holiday schedule for students. Kon Tum had the longest with 17 days, from January 24 to February 9.
More than 10 localities have given students two weeks off, but the time of the break and the return to school are different. For example, Tra Vinh and Bac Lieu let students take a break from January 20 and return to school on February 2; the holiday in Yen Bai, Binh Thuan, Lao Cai, and Quang Ninh starts 2-4 days later.
Also giving 14 days off, but Ninh Thuan has not announced the specific time.
The three provinces of Quang Ninh, Soc Trang and Kien Giang have set the Tet holiday from January 27 to February 9, a total of 14 days. However, because January 27 is a Monday, students depending on their level will have an additional 1-2 days off the previous weekend, so the number of days off could increase to 16.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, provinces and cities are allowed to proactively plan the school year, but must ensure 35 weeks (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks), in which semester I ends before January 18, semester II before May 31.
Many localities announced the Lunar New Year holiday right in the planning framework, issued at the beginning of the school year, while the rest announced it after the Prime Minister had finalized the general Tet holiday plan.
