Opening of the Southern Cuisine Festival

On the afternoon of November 21, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province organized the opening ceremony of the 2023 Southern Cuisine Festival with the theme "Space of folk cakes and Southern cuisine".

This is one of the main activities of the Southern Culture, Tourism - Cuisine Festival Week associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival of the Khmer people in Tra Vinh province in 2023.

People experience food stalls

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lam Huu Phuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province, said that this Southern Food Festival attracted 33 units inside and outside the province to participate, with a scale of 45 booths; of which, 27 booths from outside the province came from the provinces of Long An, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Son La and Ho Chi Minh City.

Each food stall displays, prepares and performs dishes and drinks typical of each locality. The festival is an opportunity for food establishments, restaurants, hotels, chefs inside and outside the province to promote local culinary culture, meet and share experiences in preparing delicious dishes from different regions. From there, promote and cooperate to develop tourism in the region and the whole country.

Mr. Lam Huu Phuc requested that the units participating in the food booth ensure food hygiene and safety, list prices, sell at the right price, maintain environmental hygiene; welcome and serve customers attentively and friendly, demonstrating the hospitality of the people of the South.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates of ownership of typical culinary dishes of Tra Vinh province including: Bun Suong, Canh Xiem Lo and Banh Tet Tra Vinh. These are 3 culinary dishes honored by the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association in the Journey to find typical culinary cultural values ​​of Vietnam in 2023; the program belongs to the Project "Building and developing Vietnamese culinary culture into a national brand in the period of 2022 - 2024".

The Cultural, Tourism Week - Southern Cuisine Festival associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival of the Khmer people in Tra Vinh province in 2023 takes place from November 21-27. During this time, Tra Vinh province organizes many cultural, artistic, sports, fair, tourism, exhibition activities... to serve the entertainment needs of the local Khmer people. This is also an opportunity for Tra Vinh province to promote the image, people, culture, and local tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.
