Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone SE 4, the latest version of its budget iPhone. However, it may not be as cheap as it once was.

Unlike previous generations that Apple has launched, the iPhone SE 4 promises to bring a 6.1-inch screen similar to current basic models, but some features may be cut to avoid affecting sales of main iPhone models.

With a modern design, the iPhone SE 4 will support Face ID facial recognition technology and remove the Home/Touch ID button. In addition, this device also has 8 GB of RAM to support Apple's artificial intelligence (AI) features and many other improvements. However, these upgrades may lead to a price increase compared to previous versions.

The iPhone SE 4 could see a price increase of around 20%, with an expected starting price of $599, sources say. While that’s still lower than other iPhone models, it’s still considered high for a mid-range product. If the model comes with 128GB of storage, the starting price could be as high as $629.

This raises the question of whether consumers should wait to invest in the iPhone SE 4. For $629, they can choose a used iPhone 13 Pro or even a higher-end model with many superior features that the iPhone SE 4 does not have.

Currently, Apple has not announced an official launch date for the iPhone SE 4. Although the company is expected to hold a launch event in October, sources say that this is a priority event for the new MacBook with M4 chip, while the iPhone SE 4 may have to wait until early next year.
