On December 30, the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2020 - 2025, held a preparatory session.

More than 550 delegates, representing more than 27,000 journalist members from 63 provincial and municipal journalist associations, 19 inter-associations and more than 200 affiliated associations, represented the will, aspirations, feelings and determination of members nationwide attending the Congress, aiming at the goal of building the Association and the Vietnamese revolutionary press to increasingly develop.

In his opening speech, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Secretary of the Party Delegation, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh affirmed: The Congress is held at a time when the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people are striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The Congress will evaluate and review the implementation of the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association; review and evaluate the implementation of policies and tasks on press work stated in the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress; 15 years of implementing Directive 37-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee Secretariat (Term IX) on enhancing the role and quality of activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new period, and implementing Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated April 8, 2020 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the new situation.

At the same time, the Congress will also focus on discussing, developing and perfecting the Political Report of the Executive Committee, discussing amendments, supplements and approving the Association's Charter and other important documents; and electing the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term XI, 2020-2025, consisting of journalists with qualities and abilities, prestige and conditions, as well as enthusiasm, to lead all aspects of the Association's work in the coming term.

On behalf of the Party Central Committee and the Standing Committee, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh asked delegates to promote democracy along with upholding the spirit of responsibility, discipline and order in discussions and elections at the congress. The contents discussed at the congress and the tasks and solutions proposed by the congress will have practical significance in contributing to promoting the development of Vietnam's revolutionary press in a modern, professional and humane direction, proactively integrating with regional and world press, selectively absorbing the quintessence of world culture in accordance with Vietnamese national culture.

With the motto "Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association has a special significance, guiding all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association and journalists nationwide to continue promoting the glorious tradition, joining hands and striving to build a Vietnamese revolutionary press that is combative, humane, professional, and modern, for the benefit of the country and people, for a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Previously, on the afternoon of December 29, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association held a Party Member Conference with the participation of nearly 500 delegates. Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his hope that the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association will continue to mark an important historical milestone and have many new points and marks in the 2020-2025 term.
