Candidates take the test consisting of many questions continuously for 30 minutes.
The Department of Education and Training has just launched the school-level round of the Internet English Olympic Competition (IOE) for the 2023-2024 school year for primary and secondary school students.
The whole province has 19,401 students from grades 3 to 9 participating in the exam, including 11,885 primary school students and 7,516 secondary school students. Students come from 12 districts, towns and cities in the province. Hai Duong city has the most primary and secondary school students taking the exam with more than 4,000 students. Next are Tu Ky district and Kinh Mon town.
These students have all passed the 15th round of self-study. They took the online exam at school with many questions continuously for 30 minutes. The exam room was video-recorded to cover all candidates and sound throughout the exam time.
The district-level exam is expected to take place in January 2024, with candidates having to pass the 20th self-study round; the provincial-level exam in March 2024, with candidates having to pass the 25th self-study round; the national-level exam in April 2024, with candidates having to pass the 30th self-study round and correctly answer at least 50% of the questions in the provincial exam for students in grades 4, 5, 8, and 9.
The IOE competition is organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, including rounds from school level to national level to improve the quality of English learning in high schools.
In the 2022-2023 school year, Hai Duong has 312 students winning prizes at the national competition, including 38 gold medals, 64 silver medals, 81 bronze medals and 129 consolation prizes.
