L29 peanut variety was planted on a pilot basis in 3 communes and wards of Chi Linh City (Hai Duong) and brought in a profit of nearly 84 million VND/ha and the Food Crops and Food Plants Seed Joint Stock Company purchased the product.
This spring crop, the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) coordinated to plant 40 hectares of new peanut variety L29 in 3 communes and wards: Hoang Tan, Bac An and Le Loi (Chi Linh City).
The results showed that the L29 peanut variety has a growing period of about 120 days, develops strongly, is resistant to diseases, and has a high rate of flowering and fruiting. The expected yield is from 3.6 to 3.8 tons/ha, about 0.7 tons/ha higher than the control variety TH116.
After deducting costs, peanut L29 gives a profit of nearly 84 million VND/ha, about 20 million VND/ha higher than the control variety.
The unit, in coordination with the Food Crops and Food Plants Joint Stock Company (Hai Duong), will purchase and consume all products from the people.
Peanut variety L29 was selected and bred by the Bean Research and Development Center (Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants). It has an upright stem, dark green leaves, is resistant to bacterial wilt, has many fruits, high yield, and beautiful grain color. The growth period of peanut L29 is similar to some peanut varieties grown locally, so it will not change the crop structure of the people.
