Nearly 650 players compete in the Hai Duong Province Primary and Secondary School Chess Tournament

The Hai Duong province primary and secondary school chess tournament for the 2024-2025 school year continues to attract a large number of students to participate.

On the morning of January 16, the Department of Education and Training opened the Provincial Primary and Secondary School Chess Tournament for the 2024-2025 school year at the Hai Duong Provincial Children's House.

This year's tournament continued to attract a large number of students to participate with nearly 650 students from grades 1-9 from teams of 12 districts, towns and cities, equivalent to last year.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Pham Hong Quan delivered the opening speech of the tournament.

This year's tournament applies the rapid chess format, reducing 1 standard chess content compared to last year. Each game is limited to 15 minutes.

After the opening ceremony, the primary school students' matches took place enthusiastically.

The tournament takes place over two days. January 16 is for primary school students; January 17 is for secondary school students. The tournament closes on the afternoon of January 17.

At the Provincial Primary and Secondary School Chess Tournament for the 2023-2024 school year, Cam Giang, Ninh Giang districts and Hai Duong city won the overall championship.

The provincial chess tournament for primary and secondary school students is held annually to create a useful playground, contributing to the development of the chess movement inside and outside of school. This is also an opportunity to select excellent players to form teams to participate in competitions at all levels.
