Plan to invite 7 foreign athlete delegations to Hai Duong to compete in the Con Son Cup International Table Tennis Tournament

The Organizing Committee of the 2nd Con Son Cup International Table Tennis Tournament in 2024 is finalizing the official dispatch to invite domestic and foreign delegations to Hai Duong to participate in the tournament. It is expected to invite 7 international delegations including: Guangdong, Guangxi (China), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Suwon (Korea). In addition, 8 delegations with the strongest table tennis movement in Vietnam today will be invited such as T&T, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Army, Police... Together with the host Hai Duong, the tournament will have 16 teams.

It is estimated that about 200 athletes will compete at the Hai Duong Provincial Sports Gymnasium in the first half of September, not including the team of referees, team leaders, coaches, medical staff, and interpreters.

The presence of international athletes will contribute to improving the quality of the tournament, especially the Guangdong and Guangxi delegations of China - the country with the highest level of table tennis in the world. This will also be an opportunity for the top players of Hai Duong and Vietnam to have the opportunity to face extremely strong Chinese opponents, who have almost no chance to compete in major tournaments. The first Kunshan Cup International Table Tennis Tournament in 2023 only had Chinese and Vietnamese athletes competing and they won most of the titles.

The Con Son Cup International Table Tennis Tournament is a continuation of the Hoang Thach Cup International Table Tennis Tournament organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Duong in collaboration with Hoang Thach Cement Company. After 8 seasons, the Hoang Thach Cup International Table Tennis Tournament was stopped in 2019 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
