Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee has just submitted a document requesting the Provincial People's Council to consider the Project to propose recognizing Kinh Mon town as a type III urban area, moving towards establishing Kinh Mon city.
At the 21st session of the 17th Hai Duong Provincial People's Council scheduled for the afternoon of April 24, the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Provincial People's Council for consideration the Project proposing to recognize Kinh Mon town as a type III urban area.
According to the Hai Duong Provincial Planning approved by the Prime Minister, by 2030, Kinh Mon town is planned to be a type III urban area and Kinh Mon City will be established, oriented to be a multi-industry comprehensive development area with major economic centers, focusing on developing resort tourism, cultural tourism, linking tourism with the Noi Bai - Bac Ninh - Hai Duong - Quang Ninh tourism corridor; building an ecological, smart, modern urban area.
To gradually implement this content, Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee is determined to build and upgrade Kinh Mon town to meet the criteria of a type III urban area before 2025.
The report of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee clearly stated that the scope of the project includes the entire boundary of Kinh Mon town with an area of nearly 16,534 hectares, the total urban population in 2023 is 215,637 people (including converted population), 23 administrative units (including 14 inner-city wards and 9 suburban communes).
Of the total 63 urban standards of type III, Kinh Mon town has 37 standards that have reached the maximum level, 16 standards that have reached the average score, 5 standards that have reached the minimum level, and 5 standards that have not reached the required score.
The standards that have not been met include: Ratio of traffic land to urban construction land; ratio of urban wastewater treated to standards; average urban green land per capita; green buildings; urban functional areas, new urban areas planned and designed according to green models, applying high and smart technology.
Based on this result, Kinh Mon town achieved a total of 88.18/100 points for the criteria of a type III urban area, meeting the conditions to propose classification and recognition as a type III urban area.
Kinh Mon Town People's Committee has developed solutions and implementation plans to overcome unmet standards and criteria to gradually improve urban quality according to the criteria of a type III urban area, moving towards the establishment of Kinh Mon City.
