The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just requested the Dutch Ambassador in Hanoi and Invest International to consider and approve the wastewater collection and treatment project for some localities using non-refundable aid capital.
This is a project to collect and treat wastewater in Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town and Nam Sach, Gia Loc and Cam Giang districts. The capital will be used to build about 166 km of gravity sewers, 8.9 km of pressure pipelines, 9 pumping stations, 5 centralized wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 21,000 m3/day and night... Total investment cost is nearly 1,500 billion VND.
According to the Urban Development Program of Hai Duong province, Chi Linh will become a type II urban area before 2030; Kinh Mon will become a type III urban area before 2025. The towns of Nam Sach, Gia Loc, Lai Cach (Cam Giang) will become type IV urban areas before 2030. Investing in the construction of a wastewater collection and treatment system requires a large amount of funding, but Hai Duong has not yet been able to allocate it to these urban areas.
Investing in wastewater collection and treatment systems in the above localities will contribute to improving the environment, raising the rate of wastewater collection and treatment in the whole province to over 30%.
Over the years, the Netherlands has been a reliable partner of Vietnam in the field of water and environment. Many projects using funding from the Dutch Government have been implemented throughout the country as well as in Hai Duong, bringing positive changes to the socio-economy and improving the quality of life of the people.
