Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Vice Principal, said that in previous years, academic transcript scores were used for independent admission (10% of the target) or combined with competency assessment test scores (30-40% of the target). However, from 2025, the school plans to no longer use academic transcript results for either method.

"Next year's candidates will study under the new program, each student will choose and have their transcript scores in different combinations," Mr. Trung explained.

For the school's specialized competency assessment exam, students must take at least two subjects, one of which is a major subject (depending on the combination). The admission score is the total score of the major subject multiplied by a coefficient of two, plus the remaining subject.

The exam results are used to select 30 training majors, accounting for 40-50% of the total enrollment quota. The remaining number will be considered by the school based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, with priority given to recruiting specialized students and direct admission (national and international awards).

The Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's competency assessment exam was first held in 2022 with about 2,000 candidates. This year, the number increased to 8,500.

In 2025, the school plans to organize 3-5 exam sessions in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Da Nang, Gia Lai, with about 30,000 candidates. In mid-August, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced changes in the structure of 5 out of 6 exam subjects. The Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology exam consists of 40 questions, divided into three parts, instead of 50 questions with two parts as before.

For Literature, the test consists of 22 questions in three parts: reading comprehension (multiple choice); writing a short paragraph; essay. Of which, the writing a short paragraph is a new requirement.

In general, the test content still follows the 2018 general education program, in which grade 12 knowledge accounts for about 70-80%.
