Thanks to wearing a life jacket, a female tourist was saved after more than 12 hours drifting at sea in Phu Quy, Binh Thuan.
On the morning of October 27, the Phu Quy Port Border Guard Station reported that a tourist who went missing while paddling a sub at Phu Quy Island (Binh Thuan Province) was found alive.
Accordingly, at around 7:40 a.m. the same day, the border guards found Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Kim Thi (born in 2005, residing in Lam Dong province) still alive. Afterwards, Ms. Thi was taken to the Phu Quy Island District Militia Medical Center for medical care and her health has stabilized.
Currently, Phu Quy district authorities and boats are continuing to search for the missing male tourist, Can Hoang Minh (born in 2005, residing in Lam Dong province).
The weather in Long Hai commune currently has strong northeast winds of level 5, 6; waves are 1.5-2m high.
On the afternoon of October 26, 6 tourists, including 2 men and 4 women, took 2 sups and 1 life jacket in front of Villa Windy to go swimming and paddle SUP about 200m from shore, an area where SUP activities are not allowed.
At 6:10 p.m. the same day, the tourists were pulled away from shore by strong winds and currents, so they called the Villa owner to send a boat to rescue them and saved the three female tourists.
The remaining 3 tourists, including 1 female and 2 males, were drifting at sea and could not be found when the rescue boat returned.
At 7:00 p.m. the same day, male tourist Ngo Xuan Hung (26 years old, residing in Dien Bien province) swam to shore about 1 km from the accident site.
The two missing tourists were identified as Can Hoang Minh and Nguyen Ngoc Kim Thi.
