Hai Duong veterans actively develop socio-economy, build new rural areas

That was the information given at the conference summarizing 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW dated January 8, 2002 of the Politburo (9th tenure) on "Strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of the Veterans Association in the new revolutionary period" in the Vietnam Veterans Association organized by the Veterans Association of Hai Duong province on the morning of October 9.

Comrades: Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation attended and directed the conference.

After 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09, the awareness and responsibility of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, the Fatherland Front, and mass organizations in the province regarding veterans' work have been enhanced.

The Veterans Associations at all levels in the province have closely coordinated with local authorities and organizations to deploy and implement emulation movements, campaigns, and policies for veterans.

The association's movements have developed on an increasingly large scale, with regular activities and high efficiency, contributing to the implementation of local socio-economic development tasks, strengthening national defense and security, and building a clean and strong political system.

Hai Duong currently has 113,433 veteran members, an increase of 27,169 members compared to 2002. Emulation movements to build new rural areas, do good business, protect the environment... are actively participated in by veteran officials and members in the province. From 2017-2022 alone, veteran officials and members in the province donated over 475,200 m2 of land, participated in 274,000 working days; supported and contributed nearly 66 billion VND to build new rural areas. Donated and mobilized over 26.2 billion VND to organize charity activities; supported, built new, and repaired 241 "comradely love" houses, with a total value of 11.2 billion VND. Coordinated the organization of 8,467 thematic talks, attracting more than 812,000 youth union members, thereby contributing to fostering patriotism for the young generation...

Speaking at the conference, comrades: Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation highly appreciated the results achieved by the Veterans Association at all levels in the province over the past 20 years.

To continue effectively implementing Resolution No. 09, comrades suggested that in the coming time, all levels of the Veterans Association in the province need to regularly do a good job of propagating and educating cadres and members about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; preserve and promote the tradition and good nature of Uncle Ho's soldiers. Veteran cadres and members need to take the lead in implementing the Party's resolutions; proactively fight to defeat all plots and activities of hostile forces, bad elements, opportunists and law-breaking acts, social evils, contributing to maintaining political security and social order right at the grassroots level.

Continue to thoroughly and deeply understand the position, role and tasks of the Veterans Association. Proactively promote the implementation of the Association's tasks; patriotic emulation movements, campaigns launched by the Central Veterans Association and the province. Association activities need to focus on the grassroots, taking villages and residential areas as the areas of operation.

Actively innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the quality of activities of all levels of the association from the provincial to the grassroots level. Take care to build a strong association organization in terms of politics, ideology and organization. Pay attention to the development of members and the organization of the Veterans Association. Strengthen inspection and supervision, especially the inspection and supervision of the implementation of resolutions of the association at the same level and higher levels. Do a good job of planning, training, fostering and using cadres to participate in association work.

Party committees and local authorities need to regularly pay attention to leadership, direction, and create the most favorable conditions for Veterans Associations at all levels to operate and promote the role and position of the organization at all times and places.
