After restructuring the apparatus, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front reduced 8 department-level focal points and increased 4 room-level units.

General Secretary To Lam presented the Politburo's Decision on the functions and tasks of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW on continuing to innovate and reorganize the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front reduced 8 department-level focal points (from 16 to 8 focal points, equivalent to 50%), and increased 4 department-level units.

On December 30, in Hanoi, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien chaired a conference to announce decisions on the organization and personnel of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW.

Also attending were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the Party Delegation, Vice President-General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha; Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front To Thi Bich Chau.

Accordingly, on December 29, on behalf of the Central Executive Committee, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu signed and issued Decision No. 217-QD/TW on the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

This Decision replaces Decision No. 120-QD/TW dated September 6, 2023 of the 13th Politburo on functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; effective from the date of signing.

The content of the decision clearly states that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has the function of advising and assisting the Committee, the Presidium, and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in implementing the provisions of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and relevant regulations of the Party and State; at the same time, it is a specialized and professional agency for the work of the Front.

Regarding the organizational structure, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front consists of the Chairman and full-time Vice Chairmen. The Vice Chairman-General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is assigned as the head of the agency.

Regarding the organizational structure, the current specialized departments and units include the Organization-Personnel Department; the Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism Department; the Propaganda Department; the Social Mobilization Department; the Ethnic, Religious and Overseas Vietnamese Department; and the Agency Office.

Public service unit: Dai Doan Ket Newspaper. Organization supporting religious activities: Office of the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee.

Based on the organizational structure of Decision No. 217-QD/TW, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, presented the Decision on Head of Department and Unit to the appointed comrades. The appointment period is 5 years from January 1, 2025.

Accordingly, comrade Nong Thi Mai Huyen, Chief of Office of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, was transferred and appointed to the position of Head of the Organization and Personnel Department.

Comrade Cao Xuan Thao, Head of the Movement Committee, was appointed to the position of Head of the Social Mobilization Committee (under the new name).

Comrade Nguyen Van Thanh, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, was transferred and appointed to the position of Head of the Department of Ethnic Minorities, Religions and Overseas Vietnamese.

Comrade Vu Thanh Nam, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnamese Catholic Newspaper, was transferred, appointed, and held the position of Chief of Office of the Vietnamese Catholic Solidarity Committee.

Comrade Truong Thanh Trung, Editor-in-Chief of the Front Magazine, was transferred, appointed, and held the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Great Unity Newspaper.

Presenting the decision on personnel work according to the new organizational structure, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien requested that each comrade promote his or her spirit and responsibility to work with the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to review, amend and supplement the working regulations according to Decision 217 of the Politburo to continue promoting a higher spirit of solidarity and unity, deploying work faster and more effectively to complete assigned tasks.
