Teacher Nguyen Nguyet Ha, also known to many Hai Duong students as Hana Nguyen, was born in 1999 in Le Thanh Nghi ward, Hai Duong city. Ms. Ha is currently teaching English at Duong An High School (Binh Giang).

Listening to Ms. Ha speak English, you will clearly feel the ease of understanding, closeness, naturalness, and lack of formality. This is also the important factor that helps her achieve a perfect score in speaking skills in the IELTS test that few people achieve.

"When I was studying at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, I did not take an English class and only focused on grammar, but my listening and speaking skills were very weak. When I went to university, I got enough points to enter a high-quality class at the English Pedagogy Department, University of Foreign Languages. That was also an environment that helped me realize where my English speaking skills were," Ms. Ha recalled.

As a student from the province, not majoring in English, and never taking the IELTS test, Ms. Ha was bewildered when studying with students who majored in English or had IELTS certificates from high school. She recounted that the first time she introduced herself in English, the whole class burst into laughter because of her limited speaking skills.

Not feeling ashamed, Ms. Ha immersed herself in learning pronunciation and stress and boldly asked her teachers and friends where she had mispronounced and how she needed to correct it... Over time, teachers and friends noticed a clear change in the English pronunciation of the student from Hai Duong. The words of encouragement from her teachers and friends gave her more motivation to continue improving.

Ms. Ha shared that thanks to the method of using mindmaps, she learned English better. This is also the method she is effectively applying to many of her students. Ms. Ha also finds that she absorbs better through listening, so she spends time every day listening to news, podcasts, and interviews to both practice English and accumulate more knowledge and experience for herself.

After a long journey of effort and taking the IELTS test many times, in June 2023, Ms. Ha officially achieved a score of 9.0 IELTS Speaking - the maximum score for speaking skills. With an average score of 8.5 for the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, Ms. Ha is one of the teachers with the highest IELTS score in Hai Duong today.

Nurture great ambitions

In 2021, after a period of teaching at an English center in Hanoi, Ms. Ha returned to her hometown and worked at Duong An High School (Binh Giang). In addition to teaching at school, Ms. Ha opened an IELTS class at home and has helped many students in Hai Duong achieve high IELTS scores.

In addition to teaching hours, she spends her time tutoring students in IELTS preparation. Sometimes she is "exhausted", but when she appears before her students, she is always a beautiful, dedicated, energetic and inspiring teacher.

After 3 years of teaching, Ms. Ha has greatly contributed to innovation and improving the quality of English teaching at the school," Mr. Do shared.

Currently, although she has achieved certain successes in her work and life, the talented young teacher still cherishes many big plans to contribute more to society. Ms. Ha plans to study abroad in England for about a year to gain teaching experience to apply to students in Hai Duong.

Every day, Ms. Ha still spends time reviewing and learning English to continue to conquer the absolute score of 9.0 in all 4 skills in the IELTS certificate exam. With the mindset of constantly striving to conquer new goals, Ms. Ha also cherishes the plan to open a communication skills training center for young children in Hai Duong.

In life, Ms. Ha is also a person with a positive outlook on life, constantly striving to improve, and is a source of motivation for many generations of students in Hai Duong.
