This gang committed many thefts in Formosa Ha Tinh, causing great economic damage.
According to information from Ha Tinh Provincial Police, after nearly 2 years of fighting against property theft crimes in Formosa Ha Tinh, Project 2024D led by Ky Anh Town Police has successfully eliminated and arrested a gang specializing in property theft here.
Previously, in the period from 2022 to 2024, the situation of property theft at Formosa Ha Tinh tended to increase with increasingly sophisticated and cunning tricks.
Ky Anh town police directed the Criminal, Economic and Drug Team to quickly establish a special project with code 2024D to fight and destroy.
After a long period of reviewing and comparing the methods and tricks of many subjects, the Special Investigation Committee has narrowed down 3 subjects: Thieu Van Duc (born in 1995), Nguyen Duy Trung (born in 1991) and Thieu Van Phuong (born in 1970), all residing in Ky Phuong ward, Ky Anh town.
These 3 people do not have stable jobs but often have a "rich" spending style, with many economic uncertainties. Trung and Duc are the 2 subjects who have many previous convictions for "Theft of property" and "Robbery"...
By the evening of November 25, 2024, when determining that the "opportunity was ripe", the Task Force decided to crack the case, catching 3 subjects: Thieu Van Duc, Nguyen Duy Trung and Thieu Van Phuong in the act of stealing 4 rolls of copper core electric cable weighing 169 kg, worth nearly 36 million VND.
To carry out the act, the group prepared rope ladders and pliers hidden in a discreet, convenient area to avoid attracting attention from security forces.
The subjects confessed that they not only stole on November 25, 2024, but also committed many thefts at Formosa Ha Tinh in the previous period.
The illegal money from the theft amounted to hundreds of millions of dong and was used by the subjects for personal expenses, gambling, buying luxury phones and even purchasing large assets for use.
After prosecuting the above subjects for property theft, the Investigation Committee expanded the investigation, arrested and prosecuted Nguyen Khac Thuong (born in 1975, Ky Phuong ward, Ky Anh town) for the act of "receiving property obtained by others through crime".
Currently, Ky Anh Town Police are investigating and handling the case.
