Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee wishes to cooperate with Italy to develop tourism

At the working sessions with Mr. Duong Hai Hung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Italy and the National Cooperative Alliance LEGACOOP, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung gave an overview of the socio-economic development situation, environment and investment attraction policies of Hai Duong province.

In recent years, Hai Duong province's economy has been growing steadily, with an average economic growth rate of 8.89% in the 2021-2024 period (higher than the national average). In the first 6 months of 2024, the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 10% (ranked 7th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide). Hai Duong is one of the leading provinces in the country in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province especially emphasized the potential and strengths of tourism in the province. Currently, Hai Duong has 4 special national relics including: Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site (Chi Linh), An Phu - Kinh Chu - Nham Duong complex (Kinh Mon); Mao Dien Temple of Literature and historical and architectural relics of Xua Temple - Giam Pagoda - Bia Temple (all in Cam Giang district); 18 provincial-level tourist areas, tourist destinations with 3,199 historical and cultural relics, hundreds of traditional craft villages preserving many cultural values, which can become tourist destinations such as: Chu Dau pottery in Thai Tan commune (Nam Sach); Chau Khe gold and silver in Thuc Khang commune (Binh Giang); Dong Giao wood carving in Luong Dien commune (Cam Giang); Xuan Neo embroidery in Hung Dao town (Tu Ky)... Hai Duong has many typical and unique agricultural products such as lychee (Thanh Ha), yellow sticky rice (Kinh Mon), green bean cake (Hai Duong city), and blood worms (Tu Ky)...

With such potentials and strengths, Hai Duong wishes to exchange information and potentials of Hai Duong culture and tourism with people, organizations and businesses in Italy. The two sides will coordinate to organize exhibitions of fine arts, photography, handicrafts, etc.

In addition, Hai Duong hopes to create favorable conditions for tourism organizations and businesses of Hai Duong province and Italy to exchange, cooperate, survey, build and develop tourism products of Hai Duong province...

"We wish to connect, promote investment and learn, share experiences in the fields of cultural industry, cultural heritage preservation, and tourism economic development. At the same time, we hope that Italian investors will continue to learn more about the investment environment in Hai Duong, thereby finding investment opportunities in the province," emphasized Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung.

In 2025, it is expected that at the annual meeting of the World Heritage Committee taking place in Paris (France), the scientific dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex will be submitted for consideration by UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage site. Therefore, the Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee requested the Italian ICOMOS expert to study and support the above dossier. At the same time, he requested that organizations and individuals connect to bring typical intangible cultural heritages of Hai Duong such as water puppetry to tour and promote in Italy at an appropriate time.

The Italian representative asked many questions to the leaders of Hai Duong province regarding issues related to policies and priority areas for attracting investment in the province. The delegates expressed their hope that in the coming time, Italian organizations and businesses can cooperate and contribute to the sustainable development of the locality in areas where both sides have strengths.

At the meeting, Ambassador Duong Hai Hung and representatives of the Legacoop National Cooperative Alliance affirmed that over the past time, the economic, trade, industrial and energy cooperation between Vietnam and Italy has been promoted, especially the implementation of the EVFTA Agreement with specific action programs has created an important turning point and new momentum in economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam - EU in general and Vietnam - Italy in particular. Italy considers Vietnam an important partner of Italy in the ASEAN region.

The Ambassador said that Italian enterprises have strengths in investing in the textile and footwear supporting industries of Vietnam in general and Hai Duong in particular. This is an area where Italy has strengths in technology and experience to take advantage of the incentives brought by EVFTA.

The Ambassador also informed that Vietnam is expected to open a direct flight to Italy in the near future.

The Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee said that this is an advantage for Hai Duong and other provinces and cities of Vietnam to export agricultural products to Europe, especially high-quality products.
