This spring, Tan Viet commune was chosen by Thanh Ha district to launch the Tree Planting Festival with the target of planting 6,000 trees of all kinds. By March 8, the whole commune had planted more than 10,000 fruit trees and nearly 2,000 shade trees and ornamental trees, doubling the assigned target. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh (in Cam Lo village) said: "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival, so when the village and commune launched the campaign, we actively checked which road sections needed to be planted and then proposed that the village find and buy trees to plant. People were watering and picking weeds very busily." Recently, the locality organized the planting of acacia trees along the commune's main road from Tan Viet commune to Hong Lac commune, more than 1 km long. After planting, the above road section was assigned to Ms. Lanh to take care of. If it doesn't rain, she waters the trees once every two days. Under the trees are purple afternoon flowers planted long ago.

The road from Tan Viet to the newly inaugurated Huong River Bridge has also been planted with 300 casuarina trees. These rows of trees have been handed over to the Party cells for care. Every year, Tan Viet commune allocates about 15 million VND to hire people to take care of the rows of trees. In addition, volunteer organizations receive self-managed rows of trees. Currently, the whole commune has 6 flower and green tree roads over 8 km long. The centralized garbage dump is also covered with rows of eucalyptus and acacia trees. The rows of trees after being planted are carefully protected, most of them do not die.

Along with planting shade trees and timber, Tan Viet is a typical commune growing fruit trees. With a hard-working, diligent and studious nature, in addition to growing guava, Tan Viet commune people have searched for new varieties of trees with high economic value to replace ineffective guava areas. Currently, Tan Viet farmers are renovating their gardens, many families are replanting guava, some are growing jackfruit and chay. Mr. Nguyen Van Phong's family in Ngoc Lo village is cutting down guava to plant 6 sao chay. According to Mr. Phong, growing chay can sell trees or fruits. He has visited and learned from many places so he is determined to plant this type of tree.

Mr. Vu Xuan Hao, Chairman of Tan Viet Commune People's Committee, said that this is the most favorable time to plant trees. Therefore, the commune has actively promoted the people to take advantage of the time to renovate their gardens and plant trees according to the instructions of the professional department. The commune People's Committee encourages people to switch to growing fruit trees with high economic value in some areas of low-efficiency litchi cultivation. The commune's Agricultural Service Cooperative is responsible for guiding people in proper care and pest control techniques.

According to the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Ha district, Tan Viet is the leading locality in the district in planting trees. The commune has done a good job of planning fruit tree growing areas in a concentrated direction, in which guava trees still play a key role in developing the local agricultural economy. For trees for timber and shade, the commune has arranged to plant each type of tree on each road and area, ensuring the environmental landscape.
