The Volvo EX30 is one of the most notable electric vehicles at BIMS 2024, despite the event being filled with green cars.
Volvo EX30 - Volvo's smallest electric SUV - has had a busy journey since the beginning of 2024. After attending the Singapore exhibition in January, the car continued to the Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 (BIMS 2024) this March. By the end of the year, the Swedish SUV line promises to appear in Vietnam.
Unlike many other electric vehicles at BIMS 2024, the Volvo EX30 has been on sale in Thailand for some time. However, this is still the first opportunity for many visitors to see and touch the Swedish electric SUV in person.
In Thailand, Volvo EX30 has 3 prices: 1.59 million baht, 1.79 million baht or 1.89 million baht, equivalent to 1.08, 1.21 and 1.28 billion VND respectively.
Launched internationally in mid-2023, the Volvo EX30 is called the "mini EX90", because although small, it possesses many of the technologies and designs of its predecessor.
In terms of size, the Volvo EX30 is significantly smaller than Volvo's smallest SUV, the XC40. While the petrol SUV is 4,440 mm long and has a 2,702 mm wheelbase, the electric vehicle is just 4,233 mm long and has a wheelbase of just 2,650 mm.
In the standard version, Volvo EX30 uses a single electric motor with a capacity of 272 horsepower, torque of 343Nm. However, this version is capable of accelerating from 0 - 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
The default battery has a capacity of 54kWh for a generally limited operating range of 344km.
However, the low battery capacity and the chosen technology of lithium-ion phosphate are the reasons that help Volvo lower the price of Volvo EX30 so much. If needed, users of this version can still take advantage of fast charging technology to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Another option for users is to opt for the 69kWh battery upgrade.
This version reduces the time needed to accelerate to 100km/h from 5.4 to 5.1 seconds, while increasing the maximum operating range to 540km for the single motor version and 520km for the dual motor version. Fast charging times generally remain the same, taking 26.5 to 28 minutes to fill up to 80%.
The more advanced version of Volvo EX30 uses 2 motors divided equally between 2 axles, bringing the total capacity of the car to 428 horsepower, torque of 543Nm. This is the fastest version to accelerate from 0 - 100km/h (3.6 seconds) and defaults to running on a large capacity battery.
Standard equipment on the Volvo EX30 includes 18-inch wheels, a contrasting headliner below the body, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with automatic steering assist, heated steering wheel/seats, heat pump, 11kW charger, 1,040W Harman Kardon speaker system and a 12.3-inch portrait central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Google Assistant support.
More premium options include a 360-degree camera with 3D view, automatic parking, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, privacy glass, panoramic sunroof, electric seats and 22kW charging.
