Only over 4% of domestic workers in Hai Duong City have signed labor contracts.

According to the synthesis of Hai Duong City People's Committee, currently the city has about 110 families hiring domestic helpers, of which female domestic helpers account for more than 94%. Most of the employers do not sign labor contracts for the domestic helpers.

Of the total 110 families that hire domestic workers in the city today, only over 4% have signed labor contracts with their domestic workers. Because they do not have labor contracts, they are freelance workers, working in the informal sector.

The reason is that most elderly domestic workers do not pay attention to signing labor contracts. Employers do not want to sign contracts because they are afraid of the constraints of social insurance and the policies for workers when signing contracts. Most families only have verbal agreements with domestic workers about working conditions, salaries, and bonuses, so when labor disputes arise, it is very difficult for the authorities to resolve them.
