All four districts of Cam Giang, Gia Loc, Nam Sach, and Kim Thanh (Hai Duong) strive to achieve advanced new rural status by 2025. Currently, these localities are focusing on striving to achieve a number of environmental targets.
Implementing the direction of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province on accelerating the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has coordinated with the People's Committees of Cam Giang, Gia Loc, Nam Sach and Kim Thanh districts to review and evaluate the level of achievement of environmental standards and criteria and quality of living environment.
As a result, with the indicators and criteria of advanced new rural districts, Nam Sach achieved all 8 indicators and criteria on environment and quality of living environment; Kim Thanh achieved 7/8 indicators and criteria; Cam Giang achieved 5/8 indicators and criteria; Gia Loc achieved 2/8 indicators and criteria.
However, the three districts of Cam Giang, Nam Sach, and Kim Thanh have not yet issued plans or projects to inventory, control, and protect water quality; restore landscapes, improve pond ecosystems and surface water sources in the district; and industrial clusters do not have environmental protection infrastructure as prescribed.
In Cam Giang and Gia Loc districts, the percentage of households classifying solid waste at source is low (37.1% and over 20%, respectively).
In addition, Cam Giang has not yet closed 2 landfills (which have stopped operating) according to regulations; Gia Loc does not have a centralized domestic wastewater treatment system that ensures environmental protection requirements, and craft villages do not ensure environmental hygiene...
Previously, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province requested departments, branches and localities to speed up the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development. Accordingly, Cam Giang, Gia Loc, Nam Sach and Kim Thanh districts focused on directing and striving to build the district to meet advanced new rural standards by 2025.
Hai Duong currently has 64 communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards and 9 communes meeting model new rural standards. No district in the province has met advanced new rural standards.
