According to experts, airbags are an extremely important part of the car. When the airbag sensor system fails, the warning light will continuously light up to let the user know.

When the airbag is faulty, the warning light will stay on continuously.

Here are some of the reasons why the airbag sensor fails.

The airbag backup battery is exhausted due to the car battery being exhausted before, this case is handled by fully recharging the battery.

One of the sensor parts is faulty or collides with each other causing the light to stay on. The airbag system includes many components with sensors located in many locations, they are controlled by the ECU center.

The airbag clock spring wears naturally due to continuous operation over a long period of time, causing poor connection and failure.

The airbag module is shorted or corroded due to exposure to moisture. This will generate a diagnostic trouble code and the light will begin to illuminate.

During the use of a car, if the person in the car does not wear a seat belt or uses it incorrectly, the airbag sensor error light will continuously light up. In case the seat belt is worn but still shows, the buckle may not be fastened properly.

When the car reports an airbag sensor error, the user must find out the cause to handle the problem at its root. Because the airbag is a passive safety system, it helps to minimize injuries and collisions during car use. Except for cases where the ECU center may give an inaccurate warning, the remaining cases must be checked and fixed because they can affect the safety of the driver and passengers.

Should you drive with a faulty airbag sensor?

A faulty airbag sensor means that the sensor light on the dashboard will flash or light up. The driver should not continue driving with a faulty sensor. Because in case of an accident, the airbag will not deploy. At that time, you are susceptible to physical injury.

How to handle when the car reports an airbag sensor error

When encountering an airbag sensor error warning light, the car owner needs to perform the following operations:

Step 1: Check all components that may indicate an airbag sensor error

Turn the car off and restart it to see if the airbag warning light turns off on its own. Repeat 3 to 4 times.

Restart the car and drive it for a short distance if the airbag light is flashing continuously. This is to help the car cycle through the power cycle. Before starting, check the wiring under the seat for loose wires or faulty plugs.

Check the seat belt system for loose or unfastened, or improperly fastened, seating positions.

Check to see if the passenger airbag switch is off. This only happens on some vehicles that have an on/off switch on the passenger airbag.

Check the sensor on the passenger seat. If the weight on the seat is too large (usually objects), the sensor system will mistake the person sitting and light up. To solve this problem, remove the object from the passenger seat and fasten the seat belt around the object. If you have done the above and the signal still appears, the sensor is broken and needs to be replaced.

Check the watch spring. If broken or damaged, replace it.

Step 2: After checking, if the sensor system is faulty and can be fixed at home, use an SRS reset scanner to reset the airbag light. It is necessary to choose a type of machine that has a fault code display feature to help solve the problem at the root.

Step 3: If after trying everything, the sensor light still shows an error, bring it to a car repair center or garage to check and provide the best and fastest solution. Avoid leaving it for a long time or not completely resolving the error, causing inconvenience and unsafety during use.
