“We have key players in Riyadh and we hope that the discussions can lead to a process towards reconciliation and peace,” Brende told a press conference, adding that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza would be on the agenda.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will attend meetings with regional leaders including the prime minister of Qatar, the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, the crown prince of Oman and Bahraini officials. The Egyptian foreign minister will be there to update officials on a round of talks Egyptian negotiators are holding in Israel on April 26 in an attempt to restart stalled efforts to end the conflict in Gaza and release the remaining Israeli hostages.

Reporting on the talks in Israel on April 26, Al-Qahera News said there had been "notable progress in bringing the positions of the Egyptian and Israeli delegations closer together."
