Hai Duong chess players win big at the National Youth Chess Championship

At this tournament, Hai Duong sent 7 players (born from 2017-2014) to participate, winning a total of 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 6 bronze medals. Player Vu Do Cam Tu (born in 2015) won the individual gold medal and together with Nguyen Uyen Nhi (born in 2015) won the team gold medal.

Before the tournament, the team only set a target of winning 1-2 bronze medals. With the above result, Hai Duong ranked 5th out of 53 teams, 1 gold medal behind the host Bac Giang.

This year's tournament brings together nearly 1,300 players, including many athletes who have just won world youth chess medals, along with many national and international young masters.

Chess is one of the youngest teams in Hai Duong, established in July 2023 according to the Decision of the Provincial People's Committee, currently has 8 young players. This is the second major tournament that the Hai Duong chess team has competed in since its establishment. At the 2023 Northern Open Chess Championship, the team won 10 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 4 bronze medals in rapid chess, individual and team blitz chess, ranking third overall.
