Ministry of Health requests to strengthen the prevention of harmful effects of alcohol and beer during Tet

On January 30, the Ministry of Health informed that the Department of Preventive Medicine has just sent a document to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities on strengthening the prevention and control of the harmful effects of alcohol and beer during the Lunar New Year and other festivals in 2024.

The Ministry of Health requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the promotion of information, education and communication activities and organize effective communication programs and campaigns, especially during the Lunar New Year and holidays and festivals in 2024 to raise awareness and change community behavior to prevent and combat the harmful effects of alcohol and beer.

Relevant units focus on disseminating information on preventing and combating the harmful effects of alcohol on human health, families and the community, to ensure traffic safety, social order and safety; disseminating regulations on prohibited behaviors; the harmful effects of alcohol on people under 18 years old; not drinking alcohol before and while driving; times and places where drinking and selling alcohol are not allowed, and implementing other regulations in the Law on Prevention and Combating the Harmful Effects of Alcohol.

The People's Committees of provinces and cities shall disseminate, disseminate and promptly and fully implement the Law and legal documents on prevention and control of harmful effects of alcohol and beer in the locality. Develop plans and allocate annual local budgets to implement the work of preventing and controlling harmful effects of alcohol and beer.

Departments, branches, units and localities shall strengthen the work of preventing and combating the harmful effects of alcohol and beer in their respective fields; effectively implement measures for screening, early detection, and intervention to reduce the harmful effects of alcohol and beer on health; prevent and combat the harmful effects of alcohol and beer for workers, students, and drivers; prevent and combat the harmful effects of alcohol and beer in the production, trading, advertising, and promotion of alcohol and beer and other related fields.

The Ministry of Health recommends that localities strengthen inspection and examination of the implementation of regulations of the Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcohol and Beer, especially during peak periods, to strictly handle violations according to regulations...
