Bach Van Liem said he lived nearby and knew that Mrs. H. had suffered a stroke and was bedridden, so he sneaked into the house and raped her, causing her death.

On May 7, the Investigation Police Agency of Cao Lanh City Police, Dong Thap Province, announced that it had issued an emergency detention order for Bach Van Liem (68 years old, residing in My Tan Commune, Cao Lanh City) to investigate the act of rape.
At around 10:15 p.m. on May 5, a relative of Ms. HTH (70 years old, residing in My Tan Commune, Cao Lanh City) reported that she was suspected of being sexually assaulted, leading to her death. That same night, Cao Lanh City Police coordinated with My Tan Commune Police to go to the scene to investigate and determined that Liem was the suspect.
At the investigation agency, Liem admitted that because he lived nearby and knew that Ms. H. had suffered a stroke and was bedridden, on the evening of May 5, he sneaked into the house and raped her, causing her death.
Liem also admitted that he had raped Ms. H. once before (he did not remember the specific date).
Autopsy results determined that the victim died of a heart attack.
