Swimming pools fed by the Seine River and many recreational activities are attracting both Parisians and foreign tourists.
In the "Paris Plages" area in the heart of the French capital, besides soaking in swimming pools filled with water from the Seine River, visitors can kayak, windsurf or simply lie in the sun.

These artificial beaches are located on the banks of the Seine in central Paris and Bassin de la Villette. Since 2002, Paris Plages has welcomed visitors from early July to late August every year. This year, the area has also added many recreational activities such as film festivals, dance classes, tai chi, children's soccer, art performances, etc.
For many Parisians, this is a great alternative to expensive long-term trips. For tourists, the "beaches" are an exotic experience in the middle of a bustling and crowded city.

“This is great for people who don’t have the chance to go on vacation,” said Parisian Michael. “They can stay in Paris and enjoy the swimming pool, water activities, children’s playgrounds, and nearby bars and restaurants.”
"Paris has a lot to offer, like this 'beach' on a sunny day. I think a lot of people would rather be here than going to the beaches in the South of France," said tourist David Wahlbrenck from the Netherlands.
