670 players from 14 clubs participated in the Hai Duong Newspaper Cup Chess Tournament for children and youth groups.

This year, the number of players is the same as the previous tournament, but there are 6 fewer clubs. Some clubs with many players participating in the tournament are Blue Horse (235 players), Nam Sach (99 players), Kim Thanh District Cultural Center (78 players), Tu Ky District Chess Club (51 players)... There are 2 commune-level clubs participating in the tournament: Dan Chu commune (Tu Ky) sent 8 players, Hong Duc commune (Ninh Giang) sent 24 players.

To prepare for this year's tournament, Hai Duong Sports Gymnasium has set up 337 tables with full clocks, chess sets... for the competition. Players compete in 6 age groups: 6 years old and under, 7 years old, 8-9 years old, 10-11 years old, 12-13 years old and 14-15 years old, according to the Swiss system. Groups with more than 30 players will play 9 games, groups with less than 30 players will play 7 games. The tournament takes place over 2 days, August 15 and 16.

At the 11th Hai Duong Newspaper Cup Chess Tournament for Youth and Children in 2023, Blue Horse Club won the overall title.
