Majors with the highest student enrollment in 2022
Meanwhile, for three consecutive years, the four fields of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Services have topped the list of fields with the worst enrollment.
The Ministry of Education and Training also reported that last year, 64/330 university and college training institutions had poor enrollment, with enrollment rates below 50%; 94/440 majors had poor enrollment, not meeting quality and targets.
The Ministry of Education and Training explained that the reason why training institutions are recruiting poorly is mainly due to the following reasons: Lack of prestige and brand to attract candidates, geographical location, competition when annual quotas increase, training fields that candidates have little demand for following social trends, narrow training fields, new pilot training fields, and fields that lack attractiveness in terms of job opportunities and career development.
To prepare for university admissions in 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends that universities need to grasp the labor market, as well as the differences in the concepts and needs of young people in choosing schools and majors of candidates.
Schools also need to innovate their training content and programs, training environment and methods, communication and recruitment promotion. Ministries and sectors using human resources need to implement a training ordering mechanism.
