Lieutenant General, Dr. Nguyen Van Oanh, Director of the School Department, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Military Recruitment Department of the Ministry of National Defense chaired the meeting. Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Oanh affirmed that over the years, military recruitment has always maintained quality, stability and achieved the set goals. In the coming time, the task of building the army, strengthening national defense and security has new requirements; requiring the quality of human resources to develop accordingly. Therefore, prioritizing the development of high-quality human resources is a decisive factor, setting requirements in training work. Military recruitment is the first step in implementing that requirement.

With sincere thanks for the attention and close coordination of news agencies and newspapers inside and outside the Army in the work of propaganda and career guidance for military recruitment in the past time, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Oanh hopes that news agencies and newspapers will continue to closely coordinate with the Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense to promote information and propaganda about school work in general and recruitment work in particular, contributing to the orientation of candidates in the preliminary selection, attracting more and more candidates with good academic performance to register for military schools.

According to information at the conference, in 2023, military academies and schools have successfully completed military recruitment work, achieving the set goals. Agencies, units and schools have actively and proactively implemented military recruitment tasks. Localities and units organized preliminary selection within the prescribed time; received application documents and organized university and college admissions seriously, in accordance with regulations, ensuring strictness.

Propaganda and career guidance work has many innovations in both content and form; focusing on direct implementation, with exchanges and connections with teachers, students and former students studying at military schools and working in the military. Specific results, enrollment in training for platoon-level officers at military university level reached 99.26%; enrollment in training for military colleges reached nearly 94% of the target. Schools have organized the reception of new students closely and safely; coordinated with military hospitals to thoroughly examine their health upon admission.

In 2024, according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, there will be 17 academies and officer schools recruiting military university students with 5,212 quotas for training university-level officers at the squad level (an increase of about 900 quotas compared to 2023); there will be 3 officer schools and colleges recruiting military college students with 150 quotas (an increase of 60 quotas compared to 2023). There will be 4 academies and schools recruiting female candidates, including: Military Technical Academy; Military Medical Academy; Military Science Academy; Logistics Academy.

Military schools implement 4 admission methods: Direct admission, priority admission and admission of excellent high school students; admission based on high school graduation exam results; admission based on high school transcripts, not exceeding 10% of the quota for high school graduates with a total score of 7.0 or higher for each high school year and a total score of subjects in the school's admission combination for each school year of 7.5 or higher; admission based on the results of competency assessment exams organized by domestic universities, not exceeding 20% of the quota for candidates.

According to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, to be eligible to apply to military schools, candidates must meet the standards of political background, age, culture and health.

Candidates who are young people outside the military register for the preliminary selection and buy the preliminary selection documents at the Military Recruitment Board at the district, county, town, or city level. Candidates who are active military personnel register for the preliminary selection and buy the preliminary selection documents at the regimental level unit or equivalent.

Candidates can only register one wish (first wish, highest wish) for a military school right from the time of making the preliminary application (if the school has many training majors, candidates can only register for one major); candidates can register for the remaining wishes at non-military schools.

Candidates who register for admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam can adjust their admission wishes according to the 2024 regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Candidates who have submitted their preliminary application to a military school, if they wish, can still adjust their admission wishes to another military school in the same group of schools.

Group 1 includes the following academies: Logistics, Navy, Border Guard, Air Defense - Air Force (command and staff system); officer schools: Army 1, Army 2, Politics, Special Forces, Artillery, Armored, Chemical, Information, Engineering. Group 2 includes the following academies: Military Engineering, Military Medicine, Military Science.
