After 7 days, households in Thai Mong village, Quang Thanh commune have completed dismantling works violating the irrigation corridor.

Thai Mong village, Quang Thanh commune is a "hot spot" for violations of the irrigation corridor in Kinh Mon with 53 households violating (from Deo Nga pumping station to the intersection of provincial road 389). This area has Phung Khac canal and KC1 canal running parallel to provincial road 389B. At the end of 2023, 4 households voluntarily dismantled, 15 households committed to self-dismantling, and the remaining 34 households did not voluntarily dismantle, so they had to file for enforcement.

On October 1, these 34 households agreed to remove the constructions that violated the irrigation corridor. By October 8, these households had completed the dismantling.

Thus, the above area has been restored. However, the Phung Khac and KC1 canals have been narrowed, heavily silted, the water quality is black and smells bad. The People's Committee of Kinh Mon town has assigned specialized departments to survey and establish a project to renovate and dredge the canal to ensure the environment and landscape.

Phung Khac canal from Deo Nga pumping station to the culvert across provincial road 389 is 750 m long, with the task of draining water for about 150 ha (15 ha of agricultural land, 50 ha of residential land, 85 ha of hills) in some communes and wards in Nam An Phu area. KC1 canal of Deo Nga pumping station is 2,509 m long, providing irrigation water for 7 ha of Dong Sau area, Lau Dong village, Quang Thanh commune.

Violations in this area have occurred since the 1990s. Initially, households built bridges across the canal, then built houses, sheds, warehouses, and auxiliary structures on the canal and the corridor of Phung Khac canal and KC1 canal. This encroachment narrowed the canal bed, deposited a lot of mud and soil, and together with waste, affected water quality, causing difficulties in maintaining, repairing, dredging canals, and regulating irrigation water for production and people's lives.

Kinh Mon town currently has 20 cases of violations of the irrigation corridor that must be cleared and dismantled. Of these, Quang Thanh commune has 14 cases; the communes and wards of Phu Thu, Lac Long, Hiep Son, An Phu, Pham Thai, and An Luu each have 1 case.

In the coming time, Kinh Mon Town People's Committee will continue to strictly handle the above violations.
