On February 24, Dong Nai police said they had temporarily detained 21 people in a money laundering ring and were continuing to expand the investigation.

Previously, the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Police discovered a group of people in Bien Hoa City specializing in transferring money to a gambling and cyber fraud ring in Cambodia.

These people illegally bought and sold bank account information, concealed their origins and laundered criminal money in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang with a transaction amount of more than 2,000 billion VND.

After establishing a special case, Dong Nai Police coordinated with Hanoi and Da Nang City Police to arrest 18 suspects; confiscated 8 computers, 9 CPUs, 87 phones of various types, and wifi broadcasting devices.

Searching the residence of the female suspect, the police seized a series of additional exhibits, more than 300 million VND in cash, dozens of business registration certificates...

She confessed to directing her accomplices to register over 30 "ghost" companies and over 150 corporate bank accounts for money laundering. Each month, her "bosses" in Cambodia transferred her between VND450 and VND500 million. Since July 2024, this group has transferred and received more than VND2,000 billion for foreign fraud groups.

Expanding the investigation, Dong Nai Police continued to arrest 3 suspects in Hanoi, Da Nang City and Hung Yen; seized many exhibits and a black RG88 gun, 27 bullets...

The investigation agency recommends that people do not buy and sell bank accounts because this is a violation of the law and will be strictly handled.
