In the context of the strong growth of the entire automobile market last November, sales of the low-cost A-class urban car segment also achieved encouraging results.

In November 2024, a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and TC Motor said that thanks to the policy of supporting a 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically assembled cars and incentives from car manufacturers, sales of the entire low-cost urban car segment (sedan/hatchback) class A reached 1,437 vehicles.

Thanks to that, the A-class urban car segment grew by 39.7% compared to the previous month (1,029 cars), and also increased by 26.3% compared to November 2023.

Below are the specific sales figures of car models in the low-cost A-class car segment in Vietnam as announced by VAMA in November 2024:

1. Hyundai Grand i10: 1,035 cars

In November 2024, Hyundai Grand i10 sales reached 1,035 vehicles, an increase of 37.5% compared to the previous month (753 vehicles) as well as compared to November 2023. This is also the first time in 2024 that sales of this model exceeded 1,000 vehicles sold in a month.

The cumulative sales of Hyundai Grand i10 in the past 11 months reached 5,080 vehicles, down 25.4% compared to the same period last year. However, this figure has surpassed the competitors ranked right below by more than half, while there is only 1 month left until the end of 2024. Therefore, the leading position in the A-class low-cost urban car segment definitely belongs to this model.

The Hyundai Grand i10 currently on the market is the latest upgraded version of this model. The car still retains the 1.2L engine and 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options, but has slightly changed its appearance. The Hyundai Grand i10 has 6 versions divided equally into 2 sedan and hatchback variants with prices ranging from 360-455 million VND.

2. Toyota Wigo: 307 cars

Closing November 2024, the Japanese automaker delivered 307 Toyota Wigo cars to customers, reaching 200 cars, a sharp increase of 53.5% compared to the previous month (200 cars), and an increase of 28% compared to November 2023. This is the second consecutive month that Toyota's car model has recorded growth. Toyota Wigo's cumulative sales in the first 11 months of 2024 reached 2,407 Wigo cars.

The all-new Toyota Wigo returned to the Vietnamese market in June 2023, so if we calculate the total sales from June to November last year, Wigo reached 1,457 vehicles. If we calculate the corresponding time period, the 5-month period from June to October 2024, the sales of the Wigo model only reached 1,510 vehicles, which is only a slight increase of 3.6% compared to the same 6 months last year.

As an imported car, Toyota Wigo does not receive a 50% discount on registration fees, but in return, there are promotional programs from the manufacturer and dealers, which helps this model still achieve significant growth results. In Vietnam, Wigo is equipped with a 1.2L engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The car also only has 2 versions E and G with prices of 360 million VND and 405 million VND respectively.

3. KIA Morning: 95 cars

With 95 cars sold in November 2024, KIA Morning had its third consecutive month of growth with an increase of 10.5% compared to the previous month (86 cars), but compared to November 2023, the result was still a sharp decrease of 34.9%. KIA Morning's cumulative sales over the past 11 months have reached 732 cars, down 46.5% compared to the same period last year.

KIA Morning is equipped with a 1.2L engine, with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car has 5 versions (MT, AT, Premium, X-Line and GT-Line) with prices ranging from 349-424 million VND respectively. Despite its modern design, cramped seating space and uncompetitive prices may be the reasons for Morning's poor sales.
