After committing the crime that left three people dead, suspect Nguyen Van Nhu (28 years old, residing in Ha Nam province) was arrested by the police while on the run.
Nhu was controlled and arrested on the way to escape.
On the evening of November 21, District 8 Police coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Police Department to take the statement of Nguyen Van Nhu (28 years old, residing in Ha Nam province) to investigate the murder.
Nhu is the suspect in the murder at a house in an alley on Luu Huu Phuoc Street (Ward 15, District 8). The three victims who died were Ms. D. (32 years old) and two children (one 3 years old and one 2 years old). The suspect's motive for the crime has not been officially informed by the authorities.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of November 21, Nhu, wearing a motorbike taxi driver's uniform, drove a scooter carrying a can of gasoline to Ms. D's house in an alley on Luu Huu Phuoc Street. There, Nhu stabbed Ms. D with a weapon and then set the house on fire.
Then, Nhu ran out to the street, threw away his shirt, and took a motorbike taxi to escape.
Near Nguyen Tri Phuong bridge, Nhu was controlled and arrested by the police.
District 8 Police coordinated with professional units of Ho Chi Minh City Police to examine the scene and investigate the incident.
At around 8:30 p.m. the same day, authorities removed the bodies of Ms. D. and the two children from the scene.
