10 young scientists aged 30-34 were awarded the 2024 Golden Globe for their outstanding achievements in scientific research.
The Golden Globe Science and Technology Awards were presented to 10 young scientists on the evening of November 8.
This year, the youngest recipient is Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Vinh, 30 years old, working at the University of Health Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University. He is also the only representative of the field of Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology to receive the award.
The Organizing Committee assessed that the 10 scientists who won the award all had excellent achievements, patents, useful solutions, and were authors of many high-quality international publications in the Q1 category, winning many domestic and international awards.
Each winner receives the "Creative Youth" Badge of the Central Youth Union, the Golden Globe Cup, a certificate and a cash prize of 20 million VND.
This year, the Organizing Committee received 69 applications, in 5 fields: Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation, Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Technology and New Materials Technology. Each field has 1-3 representatives winning awards.
Most of the candidates are PhDs, working at universities, the rest are studying and researching in France, the US, Sweden, Singapore... In terms of age, nearly 18% are under 30 years old, the youngest is 22 years old, in the field of New Materials Technology.
Many individuals have patents, utility solutions, many high-quality international publications in category Q1, many domestic and international awards and medals.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet said that the scientific research and innovation movement among youth, students and young scientists has grown strongly over the years.
Therefore, the Golden Globe Awards are constantly innovating, adding content, expanding the scope, subjects and fields of consideration, aiming to develop high-quality human resources.
Mr. Triet said that after receiving the award, many young scientists have become leaders, managers, holding important roles in science and technology agencies and organizations; or are founders and leaders of large-scale technology enterprises...
Regardless of their position, they continue to affirm their research capacity with valuable scientific works.
This year, the Central Youth Union also awarded the 2024 Vietnam Female Science and Technology Student Award to 20 students from 13 universities. The largest number of these is from the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University with 5 students.
Each female student who won the prize was awarded a certificate of merit by the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, along with a bonus of 5 million VND.
The Golden Globe Award is chaired by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has been presented annually since 2003.
The award is organized to discover and honor scientists under 35 years old with outstanding achievements, thereby developing talents in the field of science and technology.
