On September 26 and 27 at the world pickleball championship, Tran Phuong Anh, 16 years old, won 2 gold medals.

Tran Phuong Anh started competing in the World Pickleball Championship Series on September 24. This is the first pickleball tournament in history with a total prize pool of up to100,000 USD, according to Pickleball Global.

After 3 days of competition, she won two gold medals in the mixed doubles category for the 19+ age group and the mixed doubles category for the U18 age group.

On the afternoon of September 26, Phuong Anh and her teammate Nathan Willis won the gold medal in the mixed doubles event for the 19+ age group.

In the final match of this event, Phuong Anh and Nathan faced two professional athletes, Anna Clarice Patrimonio (31 years old, an athlete with many medals at the 2011 SEA Games) and Davis Alano (a Filipino athlete, 33 years old). Both won their first gold medal with a score of 21-14.

On September 27, Phuong Anh paired up with Indian tennis player Nishay Nichani in the mixed doubles event for the U19 age group. The pair reunited with two Indonesian athletes, Ari Adelya and Diego Artha.

Despite having lost the previous match, Phuong Anh - Nishay took revenge with a score of 21-9 in the final match. This victory helped the youngest pickleball player of Vietnam win the second gold medal at the world championship.

Notably, all the events she competed in were for pickleball players at level 4.5 - the advanced level in pickleball. On September 28, Phuong Anh will compete in the women's singles event for the 19+ age group.
